BYU, Utah State Basketball Offer Rising Juan Diego High Prospect

DRAPER, Utah – Remember the name Malick Diallo from Juan Diego Catholic High School. Diallo, a native of Bamako, Mali, is starting to garner a lot of recruiting interest.
Two in-state programs in BYU and Utah State both extended scholarship offers recently to the rising 2024 prospect.
BYU’s Mark Pope and staff were the first to offer Diallo. Then the Aggies, led by first-year head coach Ryan Odom came in with an offer shortly after.

The 6-foot-9 Diallo began playing basketball four years ago at the age of 12 in Mali. Last year, as a freshman at Juan Diego, was Diallo’s first season playing in the United States. He averaged 10.0 points, 5.9 rebounds per game in 22 games played.
Malick Diallo participated in FIBA u16 African Championships
This past summer, Diallo averaged 15.1 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists to help lead Mali to a second-place finish in the FIBA U16 African Championship.

Diallo’s AAU team is the Utah Mountain Stars, coached by former BYU greats Marty and Tyler Haws.

The 2021-22 high school basketball season for 3A (Juan Diego Catholic’s classification) begins on November 16.
