Report: New York Jets Exercise Exclusive Rights On CB Javelin Guidry

SALT LAKE CITY – The New York Jets exercised exclusive rights on former Utah Utes and current NFL cornerback Javelin Guidry, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post.
Costello reported the news on Wednesday, March 16.
NFL free agency was slated to start hours after Costello’s report. Guidry was slated to become an exclusive rights free agent.
According to NFL.com, an exclusive rights free agent, like Guidry, is “any player with fewer than three accrued seasons and an expired contract. If his original team offers him a one-year contract at the league minimum (based on his credited seasons), the player cannot negotiate with other teams.”
The Jets exercised exclusive rights on DE Tim Ward, WR Jeff Smith and CB Javelin Guidry.

After playing at the University of Utah from 2017-19, Guidry went undrafted in 2020. He joined the Jets as an undrafted free agent.
Last season, Guidry had 48 total tackles, 33 solo tackles, and three pass breakups.
During his two seasons in the league, the former Ute has recorded 70 total tackles, 48 solo tackles, four forced fumbles, and three pass breakups in 28 games.
Guidry and the Jets finished the 2021 season with a 4-13 record.
