Fred Warner, Kyle Van Noy Share Postgame Interaction After Sunday Night Football

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU football stars Fred Warner and Kyle Van Noy shared a moment after the Week 10 Sunday Night Football game between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Chargers.
The 49ers hosted the Chargers at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday, November 13.
Warner’s Niners defeated Van Noy and the Chargers, 22-16. After the contest, the former Cougars meet on the field for a quick interaction following their second game-ever against each other.
“You had to beat me once,” Van Noy told Warner. “Yeah, at least one time,” the 49ers star replied to the Charger.

With the result, the Chargers fell to a 5-4 record this season, and the 49ers improved to 5-4. Warner finished the night with seven total tackles, four solo tackles, and three pass breakups. Van Noy recorded two total tackles and one solo tackle.

Warner and Van Noy’s first meeting in the NFL came on October 11, 2020, when the Miami Dolphins beat the 49ers, 43-17. Van Noy had two total tackles, one solo tackle, and 0.5 tackles for loss in the win. Warner recorded 10 total tackles, seven solo tackles, one tackle for loss, and a quarterback hit in the loss.
Despite both being star linebackers at BYU and in the NFL, the duo never played with each other in college.
Van Noy suited up for the Cougars from 2010-13 and Warner played for BYU from 2014-17.
Following their college careers, both players rose to stardom in the NFL.
About Fred Warner
During his four seasons in Provo, the linebacker recorded 264 total tackles, 158 solo tackles, 6.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, seven interceptions, 13 pass breakups, and two touchdowns.
Warner was selected by the Niners with the No. 70 overall pick during the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was selected to the Pro Bowl and honored as a first-team All-Pro in 2020.

During his five seasons in the league, Warner has recorded 573 total tackles, 372 solo tackles, 5.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, three interceptions, 31 pass breakups, and one touchdown in 73 games played.
About Kyle Van Noy
After a standout career at BYU, Van Noy was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
Following two and a half seasons with Detroit, the linebacker was traded to New England. Van Noy played the next three and a half seasons with the Patriots and helped New England win a pair of Super Bowls.

After the 2019 season, the linebacker signed with the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins released Van Noy after one season in South Beach and he returned to New England on a two-year deal. The 2021 season was the lone year of Van Noy’s second stint with the Patriots.
During his nine-year professional career, Van Noy has posted 446 total tackles, 303 solo tackles, 28.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, three interceptions, 28 pass breakups, and one touchdown in 120 games played.
