Breaking down the players who have committed to BYU from the portal.

Keanu Tanuvasa | DT | University of Utah

Tausili Akana | EDGE | University of Texas

Anisi Purcell | DT | Southern Utah University

Carsen Ryan | TE | University of Utah

Ryan will step into BYU’s offense for his senior year with a great opportunity to be the starting tight end in 2025.

Kyle Sfarcioc | IOL | Southern Utah University

Sfarcioc started 22 games at right guard during his three years at Southern Utah. He will have an opportunity to compete for a starting spot along the offensive line in 2025.

Analysis of the BYU players who have entered the Transfer Portal

Staying up-to-date on all of the players from the BYU football program who are moving into the NCAA transfer portal.

Jackson Bowers | TE

2024 stats: Two game appearances

New school: Oregon State

Years remaining: Three

Analysis: Bowers, a former four-star recruit, was not in the three-deep this season. However, when forecasting next year, BYU has an opening for young personnel to emerge as the top tight ends. Many Power 4 programs were in the mix for Bowers when he was coming out of high school. We will see if he gets that interest again in the transfer portal.

Miles Davis | RB

2024 stats: 18 carries, 76 yards; five receptions, 68 yards, one TD; One start

New school: Utah State

Years remaining: One

Analysis: Davis enters the portal as a graduate transfer. He had an opportunity as the starter at running back against Wyoming. Davis had a clutch run for BYU against SMU that helped set up the game-winning field goal.

Jake Eichorn | OL

2024 stats: 9 games played

New school: TBD

Years remaining: 1

Analysis: Eichorn was a transfer from Weber State who spent the previous two years along the offensive line.

Kody Epps | WR

2024 stats: Eight receptions, 54 yards, 1 TD; 8 games played

New school: Western Kentucky

Years remaining: One

Analysis: Epps suffered an injury during BYU’s win at Baylor. When healthy, Epps has been a productive receiver.

Dallin Havea | DT

2024 stats: Redshirt

New school: TBD

Years remaining: Four

Analysis: Former Provo High signee redshirted during the 2024 season.

David Latu | DT

2024 Stats:

New School:

Years remaining: Two

Analysis: A former JUCO All-American, Latu was an excellent pass rusher from the interior at Snow College. He battled injuries during his second season at BYU.

Noah Lugo | QB

2024 Stats: Redshirt

New school: TBD

Years remaining: Four

Analysis: Lugo is an excellent athlete. However, there’s room to grow as a passer for Lugo. BYU’s staff viewed the former record-setting QB in the Ft. Worth, Texas, area as a developmental quarterback in 2024.

Aisea Moa | LB/EDGE

2024 Stats: 16 tackles, 1 forced fumble

New school: TBD

Years remaining: Two

Analysis: Moa, a former four-star recruit, began his career as an EDGE rusher and then switched to linebacker in 2024. After shedding some weight, the former Weber High star seemed to find a new home at LB. However, the linebacker unit is deep for BYU, and playing opportunities are limited.

Sione Moa | LB

2024 Stats: 10 tackles

New School: TBD

Years remaining: One

Analysis: A former Utah State transfer, Sione Moa, was making an impact at linebacker near the end of BYU’s first month of the 2024 season. Then he suffered an injury against Arizona and that limited his availability.

Dallin Johnson | DT

2024 Stats: Redshirt

New school: TBD

Years remaining: Four

Analysis: Johnson was a mid-year enrollee after a highly productive prep career last January. He’s got the ability to play at the college level.

Dalton Riggs | LS

2024 stats:

New school: TBD

Years remaining: Two

Analysis: Riggs follows a similar path to his older brother, Austin, who transferred after time spent as BYU’s starting long snapper. BYU will now turn to Cannon Skidmore as the starter at long snapper.

Crew Wakley | DB

2024 stats: 44 tackles, 1 Sack, 2 INTs

New school: TBD

Years remaining: One

Analysis: One of the top safeties for BYU during the 2024 season. The Cougars have young talent waiting in the wings, ready to take on a spotlight role. But Wakley was productive racking up 103 tackles in his two years with the Cougars.

Tyler West | WR

2024 stats: Redshirt

New school: TBD

Years remaining: Four

Analysis: West was a top target in fall camp with the third-team offense. He was a fixture on deep pass attempts. West was one of the fastest players in the program.

Prince Zombo | WR

2024 stats: Redshirt

New School: Utah Tech

Years Remaining: Four

Analysis: Zombo was a preferred walk-on out of Arizona who committed in 2023. He greyshirted and then competed at wide receiver in 2024.
