PASADENA, Calif. – The University of Utah extended its winning streak to four games with a 41-10 drubbing of UCLA.

Big Day For Moss

Running back Zach Moss had a career day in the game Friday night as he finished with three touchdowns scored and 211 yards on the ground.

“There’s a lot of confidence in the locker room, with the coaches as well,” said Moss. There’s a lot more juice at practice. It’s just flowing in the right direction, which we need, especially in the back end of the year. It’s like we’re fresh and everyone else is dead right now. We’re doing a really good job right now and we need to keep that going.”

By committee, the Utes rushed for 325 yards as team. All and all, they gained 470 yards to just 291 by the Bruins.

Covey’s TD Pass Starts The Scoring Explosion

Quarterback Tyler Huntley was held without a touchdown pass after throwing for four in the Utes’ previous victory over USC. While the QB didn’t throw one, wide receiver Britain Covey tossed his first career TD pass on a reverse play that ended in the hands of tight end Cole Fotheringham.

That play put the Utes ahead 10-7 and broke open a run of 28 straight points. It ended up being the fourth straight game that the Utes have put up 40-plus points.

The Utes played a complete game with solid special teams and stingy defense. Overall, the Utes ended up winning the turnover battle, forcing three takeaways to just one by UCLA.

“With our offense clicking how it has been, it makes our job a lot easier,” said linebacker Cody Barton. “It takes a lot of pressure of us, and our defense is definitely clicking. We’ve turned a lot of teams one dimensional tonight they [UCLA] passed the ball mostly. It’s a great time out there and its fun.”

Going Bowling

With the victory, the Utes are now bowl eligible and remain in the driver’s seat for that Pac-12 South title that has eluded them since entering the conference in 2011.

The Utes will next travel to Arizona State for a match up with the Sun Devils on Nov. 3rd.
