Pac-12 Week 11 Power Rankings: Arizona Still In Driver’s Seat In South Division

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The south division race is heating up as Arizona State controls the south division if they win their last two games against Oregon and rival Arizona.

Utah needs to beat Colorado and will need Arizona State to lose one game for the Utes to clinch their first ever berth in the Pac-12 Championship game.

Washington State (6-1) needs to beat Washington on November 23 to clinch the north division. The Huskies are on their heels with a 5-2 conference record, they face Oregon State and travel to Pullman on November 23.

Here’s how the Pac-12 schools did in the 11th week of play. Teams are listed by division, in order of their KSL Sports Power Ranking.

NORTH

1. No. 8 Washington State (9-1, 6-1)

Result: Defeated Colorado 31-7 on the road.

Recap: After Colorado scored first, the Cougars scored 31 unanswered to win their sixth straight game. Quarterback Gardner Minshew continues to make a case as a Heisman Trophy finalist as he threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns. He connected with wide receiver Dezmon Patmon eight times for 103 yards.

2. No. 25 Washington (7-3, 5-2)

Result: Bye week

Recap: The Huskies are coming off of a bye week. They are just one game behind Washington State for the lead in the north division. They will play Arizona on senior day.

3. Stanford (6-4, 4-3)

Result: Beat Oregon State 48-17 at home.

Recap: The Cardinal put the game away by halftime as they outscored Oregon State 34-17. The defense held the Beavers scoreless in the second half. Stanford quarterback K.J. Costello threw four touchdown passes to go with 342 yards. Running back Bryce Love had 11 carries for 90 yards and one touchdown in his final game at Stanford Stadium. The Cardinal snapped a two-game losing streak and became bowl eligible.

4. Oregon (6-4, 3-4)

Result: Lost at Utah 32-25.

Recap: Oregon took a three point lead with 8:15 remaining in the game before they didn’t score another point and Utah finished the game scoring a touchdown and making a field goal. Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns in the loss. He hit wide receiver Dillon Mitchell 8 times for 169 yards and two scores. The Ducks have lost three of their last four games.

5. California (6-4, 3-4)

Result: Beat USC 15-14 on the road.

Recap: USC quarterback J.T. Daniels threw both of his touchdown passes to Tyler Vaughns in the second quarter and that was it for the Trojans. Cal picked up a safety in the third quarter to go with a pair of touchdowns to give the Golden Bears the win over USC in the Coliseum. Cal quarterback Chase Garbers threw just 93 yards and one touchdown but added six carries for 34 yards and another touchdown.

6. Oregon State (2-8, 1-6)

Result: Lost at Stanford 48-17.

Recap: The Beavers scored all 17 points in the first half, but couldn’t overcome Stanford scoring 21 points in the second quarter. Oregon State quarterback Jake Luton had two touchdown passes and one interception to go with 205 yards through the air. He threw to wide receiver Trevon Bradford five times for 120 yards and a touchdown. Running back Jermar Jefferson racked up 109 yards on 19 carries.

SOUTH

1. Utah (7-3, 5-3)

Result: Beat Oregon 32-25 at home.

Recap: After losing starting quarterback Tyler Huntley and running back Zack Moss for the season during the week, the Utes looked to Jason Shelley and Armand Shyne and they delivered. Shelley threw for 262 yards and ran another 22 yards and two touchdowns. Shyne had 174 yards on the ground. Kicker Matt Gay nailed all six field goal attempts, including one from 55 yards out. Utah plays their final Pac-12 regular season game against Colorado on Saturday.

2. Arizona State (6-4, 4-3)

Result: Defeated UCLA 31-28 at home.

Recap: The Sun Devils stopped UCLA’s last attempt to win the game. Arizona State quarterback Manny Wilkins threw for 199 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver N’Keal Harry racked up 100 yards on seven receptions. Running back Eno Benjamin continues to be a dynamic weapon as he rushed for 182 yards and one touchdown on 34 carries. The Sun Devils are still in the driver’s seat in the south division and are also bowl eligible.

3. Arizona (5-5, 4-3)

Result: Bye week

Recap: The Wildcats are coming off of a bye week holding a two-game winning streak. They have two tough games to try to win one game and become bowl eligible. Arizona will face Washington State in Pullman and host Arizona State.

4. USC (5-5, 4-4)

Result: Lost to California 15-14 at home.

Recap: The Trojans couldn’t score again after they took a 14-0 lead in the second quarter and allowed Cal to score 15 points in the third quarter to lose their third loss in their last four games. They have two chances to win one game to become bowl eligible as they travel to UCLA and host No. 3 Notre Dame.

5. Colorado (5-5, 2-5)

Result: Defeated by No. 8 Washington State 31-7 at home.

Recap: The wheels have fallen off in Boulder after Colorado lost their fifth straight game. They started the season winning their first five games. Quarterback Steven Montez had 199 yards passing. They did get star wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. back from injury as he collected 10 catches for 102 yards. The Buffaloes face Utah on senior day and travel to Cal. They need just one more win to qualify for a bowl game.

6. UCLA (2-8, 2-5)

Result: Lost at Arizona State 31-28.

Recap: In a back and forth game, the Bruins couldn’t score on their last drive to take the lead, giving Arizona State the win. UCLA quarterback Wilton Speight threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Caleb Wilson caught both of those touchdown passes to go with 164 receiving.
