INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Utah Jazz ended their five-game road trip losing to the Indiana Pacers 121-94.

Utah couldn’t overcome 19 turnovers and allowing the Pacers to score  33 points off of those turnovers. Indiana had 19 more field goal attempts than the Jazz.

Rubio was one of the only bright spots offensively for the Jazz as he dropped 28 points on 10-of-13 shooting. He missed just one three-pointer as he made five of six attempts.

Donovan Mitchell didn’t reach double figures in scoring for the first time this season as he scored just 7 points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field. Jae Crowder scored 14 points off the bench while Rudy Gobert had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Pacers were led by Bojan Bogdanovic with 21 points. Domantas Sabonis and Aaron Holiday added 19 apiece while Myles Turner, Thaddeus Young and Doug McDermott all scored 12 points each.

Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder talked about what the issue was against the Pacers.

“They were more physical than us down low. We can’t let teams impose their will that easy,” Snyder added.

Slow First Quarter Leads To Strong Second

The Jazz struggled in the first quarter of play as they turned the ball over 8 times with Indiana committing just one turnover. They finished the opening period on a 28-11 run and held a 32-19 lead.

Utah responded with a 19-10 run and pulled within 9 points with two minutes left in the first half. After a poor first quarter, the Jazz answered with just three turnovers and hit 5-of-7 from downtown. The Pacers were up 57-47 at the half.

The Jazz had another slow start in the third quarter as they were outscored 14-6 in the first five minutes of the period. But Utah couldn’t overcome that slew of scoring in the third quarter as Indiana outscored the Jazz 29-23 to take a 86-70 lead.

The fourth quarter was much of the same as Indiana reached their biggest lead of 21 with 6:22 left in the game and took home the win.

“We were just a step slow in every area. We need more urgency and more mental toughness,” Snyder said after the game.
