BYU Alums Beat Former Utes In The First Annual Rivalry Golf Championship

Salt Lake City, UT — The Utes and Cougars are set for their 98th meeting Saturday night, but earlier this week, a new tradition began between Utes and Cougars – the Rivalry Championship – pitting former athletes on the golf course for bragging rights.
Former Ute specialists and hosts of the Special Forces Gang Podcast Andy Phillips and Tom Hackett played against former BYU quarterback Riley Nelson and offensive lineman Braden Hansen.
The twosomes played at Hidden Valley Country Club. Trash talk began early with Hackett referencing the Utes’ seven-game winning streak as reason they should tee off first.
Despite “being favored by two-and-a-half” the Phillips-Hackett team lost by two strokes to the Nelson-Hansen duo thanks in part to a big putt from Nelson on the final hole.
After the loss, Phillips and Hackett had to sport BYU gear – pictures were taken and immediately posted to social media.

Stakes were high as Phillips and Hackett had a year-supply of Cougar Tails promised if they came out on top.
