Locals Performing Well For Stallions In AAF

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Through two games of the Alliance of American Football league season, the locals from Utah, BYU and Utah State have played well and have had an impact on the Salt Lake Stallions.

The Stallions are 0-2, with both losses coming on the road. They will play their first home game on Saturday at Rice Eccles Stadium.

Utah, BYU and Utah State have 16 players on the roster, 9 are former Utes, 5 are former Cougars, and 2 are former Aggies.

Here is how the locals are performing through the first two weeks of the AAF season:

Former Utes

Matt Asiata

The former Utah and NFL running back scored the first ever touchdown in team history during the Week 1 loss to the Arizona Hotshots. Asiata finished with four carries for four yards and that touchdown. In their loss to Birmingham, Asiata turned the ball over on a fumble and recorded just two carries for four yards. He has six rushing attempts for eight yards and one score.


Kaelin Clay

The former return specialist and Ute wide receiver has not played in the first two games as he is dealing with an injury.

Dres Anderson

Anderson was targeted four times and finished with two catches for 25 yards in the loss to Arizona. He did not play in the second game against the Iron as he suffered an injury. The Stallions announced on Tuesday that they have placed Anderson on the injured-reserve list.

Anthony Denham

The former Utah and NFL tight end had a team-high five receptions for 59 yards against the Hotshots. He recorded one catch for 11 yards against Birmingham. On the season, Denham has been targeted 13 times with 6 receptions for 70 yards.

Jeremiah Poutasi

The former Ute and third round NFL draft pick started both games at left tackle on the stout offensive line.

Salesi Uhatafe

Uhatafe has started alongside Poutasi on the offensive line at left guard.

Sealver Siliga

The former Utah defensive tackle and NFL player recorded one tackle against Arizona, but did record any stats against Birmingham.

Trevor Reilly

Former Utah stud linebacker Trevor Reilly had four solo tackles against Arizona. He had a breakout game against Birmingham with 6 total tackles, 4 solo take-downs, 1 pass deflection, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.

Gionni Paul

The former Utah ball-hawking linebacker did not play in the season opener against Arizona but made up for the absence by posting a team-high 12 tackles, 6 solo tackles, a half of a sack and 1 hit on the quarterback against the Iron.

 

Former Cougars

Jordan Leslie

The former Cougar caught the Stallions’ first ever touchdown pass against Arizona to go with two receptions for 15 yards. He had one catch for 13 yards against Birmingham. Leslie has been targeted 5 times with 3 receptions for 28 yards and 1 touchdown on the season.


Tanner Balderee

Balderee is the Stallions tight end and recorded 1 catch for 5 yards against Arizona, but didn’t record any stats against the Iron.

Tuni Kanuch

The former BYU offensive lineman did not play in the first two games of the season as he is dealing with an injury.

Handsome Tanielu

Like Kanuch, Tanielu is dealing with an injury and has not played this season.

Micah Hannemann

The Stallions’ starting free safety had 4 solo tackles in the season opener and posted 2 total tackles against Birmingham to bring his total to 7 tackles and 5 solo take-downs.

 

Former Aggies

Anthony Williams

Former Aggie linebacker had 4 solo tackles in the Week 1 loss, but he didn’t record any stats against the Iron.

Will Davis

Former Aggie and NFL cornerback Will Davis recorded 4 solo tackles and a pass deflection against Arizona. Davis finished with 5 solo tackles and 3 pass deflections against Birmingham to bring his season total to 12 total tackles, 9 solo take-downs and 4 pass deflections.

The Stallions will seek revenge against Arizona at home on Saturday at 1 p.m. on Bleacher Report Live.
