Salt Lake City, Utah – When the time is right, former BYU quarterback and current New Orleans Saints Swiss Army Knife Taysom Hill should join the Alliance of American Football when his time in the NFL is over.

Hill just finished his second season with the Saints as an undrafted free agent. He plays multiple positions for the Saints that includes quarterback, running back, tight end and specialist.

The Salt Lake Stallions of the AAF currently have 16 players on their roster that played their college football at Utah, BYU or Utah State. Just five players are from BYU.

Helmets Off podcast host and former NFL quarterback Scott Mitchell believes that Hill should join the Stallions in the AAF.

“If Taysom Hill joined the Salt Lake Stallions of the Alliance of American Football, it would be an instant hit,” Mitchell said.

Hill had two touchdowns, but made a splash on special teams with a blocked punt and a few fake pass plays. He even had a touchdown catch in the NFC Championship game.

Mitchell is convinced the AAF has a big chance of succeeding. He loves the concept of the league and thinks it is “good football,” but he said the one thing it is missing is “star-power.”

That’s where Hill comes in.

Taysom Hill Brings Star-Power, Gets Development

If Hill wants the opportunity to develop and become a starting quarterback in the NFL, Mitchell said, he has to come to the AAF.

Mitchell knows the importance of quarterback development in leagues other than the NFL. While he was backing up Dan Marino, he played a season in the World League with the Orlando Thunder. He credits that time to furthering his successful NFL career.

“It is such a great laboratory to learn without having the pressure,” Mitchell argued.

Mitchell said he doubts the Saints will ever have the patience, even after Drew Brees retires, to put up with the growing pains Hill, like all new starters, will experience.

Hill’s local tie makes him a perfect fit for the Salt Lake Stallions. Fans will come just to see him play, according to Mitchell.

“He is the perfect person,” said Mitchell.
