Sebastian Saucedo Scores On Debut For Pumas UNAM

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Sebastian Saucedo scored a terrific solo goal 25 minutes into his debut with new club Pumas in Liga MX to help give his new club a 2-1 victory over Pachuca on Clausura’s first matchday.

Saucedo, 22, appeared in 26 games for the Claret and Cobalt last season, adding two goals and four assists to help RSL finish the regular season as the third seed in the Western Conference. However, Saucedo’s contract expired following seasons end and he ultimately decided to sign with Pumas as opposed to resigning with his hometown club.

This is Saucedo’s second stint in Liga MX following a season-long loan in 2016 where he played 10 games for Veracruz, scoring one goal.

Olympic Aspirations

Saucedo is also a member of the US U-23 National Team and is hoping to qualify for the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games being hosted by Tokyo, Japan. The US has recently been drawn into Group A with Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Mexico for the Concacaf Olympic Men’s Qualifying Championship which will be hosted in Guadalajara, Mexico from March 20-April 1. The top two finishers from each group will advance to the semi-finals with the winners of the semi-finals booking their region’s tickets to Tokyo later in July.
