Daniel Sorensen Wears BYU Shirt In Video Encouraging Chiefs Fans To Stay Home, Stay Strong

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU and current Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Daniel Sorensen sported a BYU shirt in a video telling fans to stay home and stay strong during the coronavirus pandemic.

Sorensen wore a royal blue shirt with a white “stretch Y” BYU logo on it in the video released on the Chiefs’ official Twitter account on Thursday, March 26.

“Hey Chiefs fans, it’s Dirty Dan Sorensen. Checking in with you guys from my basement. I just finished a workout. I wanted to let you know that my family and I are doing well. This is a difficult time for a lot of us. We are thinking of you, praying for you guy, but I am excited for football season and we’ll see you guys soon,” said the Super Bowl champ. “In the meantime, I hope you’re finding ways to exercise, to work up a sweat. Pushups. Situps. Bench pressing your kids. Whatever it takes. Exercise releases endorphins and we need all those positive vibes right now. However you can do it. Just get it done. Stay safe. See you soon.”

The former BYU DB recently completed his sixth NFL season. Sorensen and the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. In 2019, Sorensen recorded 79 total tackles, 58 solo tackles, 5 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, and a forced fumble.

The DB has posted career totals of 310 total tackles, 235 solo tackles, 3.5 sacks, 22 pass breakups, 9 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, and 2 touchdowns.

He’s appeared in 87 games with Kansas City since joined the organization in 2014 as an undrafted free agent out of BYU.

How Do I Prevent It?

The CDC has some simple recommendations, most of which are the same for preventing other respiratory illnesses or the flu:

• Avoid close contact with people who may be sick
• Avoid touching your face
• Stay home when you are sick
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Always wash your hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
• If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

The CDC does not recommend wearing a face mask respirator to protect yourself from coronavirus unless a healthcare professional recommends it.

If you see evidence of PRICE GOUGING, the Utah Attorney General’s Office wants you to report it. Common items in question include toilet paper, water, hand sanitizer, certain household cleaners, and even cold medicine and baby formula. Authorities are asking anyone who sees price gouging to report it to the Utah Division of Consumer Protection at 801-530-6601 or 800-721-7233.
