Report: ESPN Changing Monday Night Football Broadcast Crew For 2020 Season

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast booth will reportedly feature a new play-by-play announcer and color commentator for the 2020 NFL season.
Richard Deitsch of The Athletic reported that MNF play-by-play announcer Joe Tessitore and color commentator Booger McFarland wouldn’t reprise their roles for the upcoming season.
“ESPN is going to have a new Monday Night Football booth. Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland will not return, via sources,” tweeted Deitsch. “The successors will be internal. No decision has been made yet. Both Tessitore and McFarland will remain in prominent roles at ESPN.”

Deitsch reported that both Tessitore and McFarland will remain employed by ESPN in other capacities.
Tessitore and McFarland have occupied the broadcast booth for Monday Night Football since 2018.
The new play-by-play announcer will be the third for ESPN’s weekly NFL broadcast since 2016. Play-by-play announcer Sean McDonough took over for Mike Tirico, who left for NBC following the 2015 season. Tessitore replaced McDonough after the 2017 season.
Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reported that ESPN’s Steve Levy, Dan Orlovsky, Louis Riddick, and Brian Griese “are the favorites” to move into the Monday Night Football broadcast booth.

The Monday Night Football schedule for the 2020 season was released on Thursday, May 7.
Monday Night Football begins on Monday, September 14, when the Pittsburgh Steelers play the New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans play the Denver Broncos.
