KEARNS, Utah – Kearns High School star safety and wide receiver Jeff Bassa has narrowed his recruitment to three teams.

On July 3, Bassa listed his top 6 schools that he was focusing on which included Oregon, Baylor, Utah, Louisville, Oklahoma State and Arizona State.

On Tuesday night, Bassa named his top three schools, Utah, Oregon and Oklahoma State. Eliminating Louisville, Baylor and Arizona State.

A three-star prospect that is ranked No. 9 in the state of Utah and the 104th ranked safety in the nation, Bassa presents an elite skillset that would fit in really well with the Utes. Standing at 6’3, 200-pounds, Bassa has speed and physicality that would fit the Utah defense very nicely.

Other than the top six listed above, Bassa received offers from Arizona, Hawai’i, Kansas, Oregon State, Syracuse, UNLV, Utah State and Washington State.

Utah has received verbal commitments from 9 players in the 2021 class but none of them play safety. This would be a massive get for the Utes if they are able to land Bassa.

Four-star quarterback commit Peter Costelli wrote Bassa on Twitter after the Kearns star released his top three.

“You know the move! Come be a Ute!” Costelli wrote.

Through four weeks of the high school football season, Kearns is 4-0 and ranked No. 8 in the state. They will face Riverton this Friday at 7 p.m. Bassa has filled up the stat sheet through four games with 2 carries for 27 yards, 5 receptions for 53 yards, 20 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, two pass deflections and two kick returns for touchdowns.
