SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau and Mike Weir made the cut at The Masters and will be playing in rounds three and four this weekend. However, it wasn’t easy for either of them.

Finau, who began the second round at three-under-par, struggled mightily on Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning to barely make the cut line with a two-round score of even par.

Finau’s second-round included four bogeys, one birdie and 13 pars.

2020 marks the third consecutive Masters Tournament for Finau who has previous finishes of a tie for 10th and a tie for 5th in 2018 and 2019 respectively. If he hopes to secure a third consecutive top ten finish at Augusta National then he will need to go incredibly low over the third and fourth round.

Weir, on the other hand, looked poised to miss the cut as the sunset on Friday evening. However, with nine holes left to finish early on Saturday morning, he made two birdies and no bogeys to finish at one-under-par and in a tie for 43rd.

Unlike Finau, Weir is playing in his 21st Masters Tournament after winning the green jacket in 2003. Making the cut this year marks the twelfth time in his career that he has done so.

Unfortunately, both Finau and Weir will likely struggle to contend this year. The conditions at Augusta National are soft, making scoring easier. With how much talent is atop the leaderboard it would be unrealistic to assume that either Finau or Weir can climb that mountain.

For the first time in major golf tournament history, the number one, two, and three ranked golfers are tied for the lead after 36 holes. Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas sit at nine-under-par.

Round 3 Tee Times

Finau will tee it up off the 10th tee at 9:48 a.m. alongside Bryson Dechambeau and Jimmy Walker.

Weir will also tee it off the 10th tee at 9:26 a.m. alongside Nick Taylor and Sung Kang.
