ST. GEORGE, Utah – The top ranked Beaver Beavers won the battle of undefeated teams with a 42-0 shutout win over Duchesne in the 2A State Championship game.

It’s the second straight season that Beaver has not lost a football game after going 13-0 in 2019 and knocking off Milford, 45-6 in the championship game. They have won 26 straight games.

The Beavers run a triple option offense with most of their plays coming on the ground but on Saturday, Treyson Hunter threw five touchdown passes, all to different receivers.

Beaver Scores Three TD’s In First Half

The Eagles started the game with the ball but had a bobbled snap on fourth down deep in their own territory. Duchesne recovered at their own three-yard line. Two plays later, Beaver QB Treyson Hunter fumbled the ball into the end zone and it was ruled a touchback.

Duchesne needed to punt the ball away. It was a favorable field position for the Beavers as they started on the Eagles’ 30-yard line. On third and goal from about 15-yards out, Hunter found E.J. Allred for a touchdown up the middle. Beaver took a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter.

Midway through the second quarter, Hunter found Crayton Hollingshead for a 10-yard touchdown. Beaver’s lead was extended to 14-0 with over six minutes remaining until halftime.

Shortly after Duchesne’s next possession, the Beavers picked off the pass and returned it to the Eagles’ 7-yard line. Three plays later, Hunter found Statler Wright for a TD, giving them a 21-0 lead late in the second quarter.

Beaver Takes Home State Title With Three More TD’s In Second Half

After forcing Duchesne to punt on the first possession of the third quarter, Beaver QB Treyson Hunter threw a beautiful pass to Hunter Carter for a touchdown, giving the No. 1 team in 2A a 27-0 lead with 10 minutes left in the third quarter.

Moments later, Turner Williams put the Beavers ahead, 35-0 with 4 minutes left in the third quarter. Beaver kept things going offensively when Hunter threw another TD pass, this time to Ky Brown. That put the nail in the coffin for the Beavers with a 42-0 lead early in the fourth quarter.

It’s the 13th state title for the Beavers. They finished the 2020 season with an undefeated 13-0 record. During the season, they allowed 10 of their 13 opponents to score single digits, including three shutouts.
