Jazz Extend Winning Streak To 9 Games With Hard Fought Win Over Knicks

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz winning streak is now at nine games with a 108-94 victory over the New York Knicks on Tuesday night in Salt Lake City.

After trailing by 13 at the half, the Jazz went on a 24-8 run from the fourth quarter to put the game away against the Knicks and keep their winning streak alive.

Royce O’Neale led the way with 20 points and 6 rebounds on 7-of-12 shooting and 2-for-5 from downtown. Mike Conley added 19 points, 7 boards and 5 assists, including 14 points in the third quarter. Rudy Gobert was massive with 18 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks. Jordan Clarkson contributed 13 points off the bench and Bojan Bogdanovic had 11.

Donovan Mitchell struggled offensively, finishing with 9 points and 8 rebounds, while shooting 3-of-15 from the floor and 2-for-9 from beyond the arc.

Austin Rivers led the Knicks with 25 points, scoring all of those points in the first half. He made 15 straight shots in three quarters in a two game span against the Utah Jazz.

Austin Rivers, Knicks Have Big Lead In First Half Against Jazz

Rivers finished the previous matchup against the Jazz, making his last five shots in the Knicks win on Wednesday, January 6 in New York. In the first half of the rematch on Tuesday night, Rivers made his first 10 shots including five three-pointers for 25 points in 12 minutes.

Rivers was one of three Knicks to score in double figures in the first half. R.J. Barrett and Julius Randle each had 11 points. For the Jazz, Rudy Gobert and Jordan Clarkson each had 10 points at the halftime break. Royce O’Neale added 9 points. Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley combined for 4 points on 1-of-13 shooting from the field and 0-for-7 from beyond the arc.

The Knicks had a 59-46 lead at the halftime break.

Conley, Jazz Take Over In Second Half To Keep Winning Streak Alive

Mike Conley had 14 points in the third quarter that sparked a big Jazz run. They started the quarter on a 20-8 run and outscored the Knicks 34-22. Royce O’Neale had a big fourth quarter with 9 points.

It was the defense that stepped up in the fourth quarter as the Knicks ran out of gas. The Jazz outscored New York 28-13 in the final period.

The Jazz improved their record to 13-4 on the season and sit in the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference standings after the Los Angeles Clippers had their winning streak snapped.

Utah will play the last two games of the six-game homestand against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, January 27 at 7 p.m. MST and Friday, January 29 at 8 p.m. MST.
