PGA Tour Partners With Amazon Web Services Bringing Fans Closer To The Action

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The PGA Tour has announced a new partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) that will allow fans of golf closer to the action.

Every Shot. Every Golfer.

AWS will offer golf fans the ability to watch every shot of every player. They have created a platform that allows golf fans to further gain insight into their beloved players’ rounds.

“This transformational partnership with AWS will give our fans the opportunity to experience the PGA Tour like never before,” said PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan via a release. “Growing and diversifying our fan base is a top priority for us, and thanks to the collaboration and innovation from AWS, we are creating more ways to experience the game of golf, while personalizing our content to enable fans to engage with the tournaments and players they support.”

Starting with the upcoming TPC Players Championship, AWS will power the Every Shot Live app to help fans of the game watch every shot of the action. The first day (Thursday) will be free. However, Friday through Sunday will only be available to PGA Tour Live subscribers on NBC Sports Gold.

Every PGA Tour Shot

Plans for Every Shot Live at future tournaments are yet to be announced.

“The partnership and experience we create with the Tour will be unique,” said AWS CEO Andy Jassy. “Unlike other sports, there’s more than one ball in play on a golf course, which makes it harder for fans to follow how every player is performing. Our collaboration with the Tour will change the way that fans will be able to connect with the sport by giving them real-time access to virtually every moment on the course and letting them determine how they experience the game.”

Fans will be able to customize their experience, meaning, fans of Tony Finau will be able to select only Finau’s shots if they choose to do so.

Currently, the PGA Tour does not have a platform for golf fans to watch every shot. For example, if Finau tees off at 9 a.m. but the television coverage does not start until noon, Finau fans are only able to follow Finau through the PGA Tour app that rarely offers video.

The Every Shot Live app changes that. Fans of Finau will now be able to watch every shot he makes.
