Former Ute, Bears Safety Jaylon Johnson Tosses First Pitch At Cubs Game

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Utes and current Chicago Bears safety Jaylon Johnson threw out the first pitch before a Chicago Cubs game.
Johnson tossed the ceremonial opening pitch before the Cubs hosted the Miami Marlins at Wrigley Field on Friday, June 18.
During Chicago’s pregame, the former Utah standout stepped onto the mound and threw a pitch before celebrating with the Cubs’ mascot.

Johnson recently completed his rookie campaign in the NFL.
The safety is currently in the middle of his first full offseason after a unique pandemic affected first season.

Johnson was selected by the Bears with the No. 50 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
During his first season in Chicago, Johnson recorded 44 total tackles, 34 solo tackles, and 15 pass breakups.
He helped the Bears to an 8-8 record as a rookie.
Johnson and the Bears will open the 2021 regular season against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, September 12 on KSL TV.
