Taylor Sander, USA Volleyball’s Olympic Run Ends With Loss To Argentina

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU alum and Team USA Men’s Volleyball has been eliminated from the Olympics after falling to Argentina 3-0.
The United States got on the board first but the tide of the first set fell in Argentina’s favor quickly. But the United State rebounded with a 4-1 run, but it wasn’t enough. They dropped the first set.
In men’s Olympic volleyball the best 3/5 games wins the match.
In the second set, the United States kept things close with a few big blocks but dropped the set to Argentina 25-23.
Bruno Lima of Argentina was a problem for the United States. He was confident and in rhythm, the United States couldn’t get him under control.
United States entered the Olympics as the lowest efficiency team when it comes to serving but Taylor Sander turned things around as the best server for the US against Argentina.

Taylor Sander is a BYU alumni from Huntington Beach, California.
In the third set, Argentina jumped out to a 12-8 lead before the United States went on a 7-1 run to take a 15-13 lead. Argentina then held a 21-20 lead before the U.S. made a huge kill to tie the set. But Argentina took the lead 22-21 on a service error. They had 13 in the match to that point. Argentina was at match point with a 24-23 lead.
The United States blocked Argentina’s kill attempt but the ball went out of bounds, giving Argentina the win and a spot in the quarterfinals.
