Real Salt Lake Trio Named To MLS Team Of The Week Following Rocky Mountain Cup Win

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Damir Kreilach, Aaron Herrera, and Pablo Mastroeni have all been named to the MLS Team of the Week following their performances against Colorado last weekend.

Kreilach scored the game’s opening goal in the 13th minute following a wonderful cross from Aaron Herrera. Kreilach broke a club record by scoring his fifth goal in as many matches, something no player at Real Salt Lake has accomplished. Prior to the game against Colorado, Kreilach was tied with Luis Silva, Jeff Cunningham, and Álvaro Saborío who had scored in four consecutive games previously.

Herrera added his 10th assist on the season which is good enough for second-most on the team, only behind captain Albert Rusnák who has 11. Furthermore, Herrera has the most assists in the league when compared to other defenders.

Mastroeni was also listed on the Team of the Week following his performance as manager for Real Salt Lake. Mastroeni guided Real Salt Lake to a comfortable 3-1 win over rivals and third-placed Rapids.

It was an emphatic performance from Real Salt Lake who prior to the fixture was only two points ahead of Vancouver who was in the eighth position. With the win, Real Salt Lake remains in the fifth spot in the West but the gap between eight and fifth grew to five points.

Real Salt Lake will travel to Chicago for a date with the Fire this upcoming Saturday, October 23rd.

It will be the final time this season that Real Salt Lake gets a week to prepare for their next fixture. The final four games will be played over a grueling two-week stretch.
