Alex Ferreira Wins Bronze Medal In Men’s Freestyle Skiing Halfpipe Final

SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster College alum Alex Ferreira won the bronze medal in the Men’s Freestyle Skiing Halfpipe Final at the Winter Olympic Games.
Alex Ferreira had a great first run that put him in medal contention that ultimately led to a bronze. Nico Porteous of Australia won the gold medal, while David Wise of the United States earned silver.
Each competitor had three runs and would take their best score of the three.
After the first run, Ferreira was in third place with a score of 86.75. Irving was in fifth with an 80.00. When the second run concluded, Ferreira did not improve his first run score, posting an 83.75. Irving finished his second run with a 32.50.
After the third run, Ferreira posted a 67.75, keeping his first run score. Irving took his first run score as well after getting a 48.00 on his third run.
Ferreira is from Aspen, Colorado and attended Westminster College. This is his second Winter Olympic Games after previously competing in 2018 in PyeongChang.
Irving is from Denver, Colorado and currently resides in Winter Park, Colorado. He attended the University of Utah. This is his first Winter Olympic Games.

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics
Just a year after Japan’s summer Olympics, the Games are back for a winter show in Beijing, China. The unusually short gap between Games is due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
