PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball fans who took time out of their Saturday to watch the Cougs were unhappy with ESPN. That’s because they could not find the regular-season finale tilt against Pepperdine anywhere.
When fans tuned in to ESPN’s all-college network, they were greeted by a game running late involving Loyola Chicago and Northern Iowa.
With the Missouri Valley showdown running behind, a yellow notice in the bottom right corner of the ESPN ticker pointed fans to the ESPN app to watch BYU/Pepperdine.
The app wasn’t playing BYU-Pepperdine, and BYU basketball fans made their voices heard.
@espn Now 530. BYU pepperdine still not “on the app”. Never did get started on the app before you finally got it on tv! pic.twitter.com/4q7RXZtBSx

@espn you keep saying that I can watch the BYU game on your app but you CAN NOT and I’m pissed about it pic.twitter.com/m3pwrEvh0q

I understand why espn isn’t streaming on national broadcast bc there’s another game in OT but why aren’t they playing the byu Pepperdine game on the app or online????? I know you’re filming it live, why send the stream no where??? https://t.co/nH31jNkO59

@espn The BYU/Peppermint game is not available on the app like you’re claiming on ESPNU. someone needs to press a button or something.

@espn Loyola Chicago is in OT on ESPNU and it says we can watch BYU on the app but there is no stream can we please fix this?

@espn needs to get their crap together pic.twitter.com/kFEvnp3hjw

Hey @espn hit the button and start the game. It's not that hard #BYU

@espn you and your app suck. Says the byu game is available to watch on the app and the app says it hasn’t started.

sources tell me espn has not pressed play on our game yet so here’s Mike hitting another jumper

Looks like I’m missing a 💩 offensive performance so far. But can’t really tell because despite espnu bottom line telling me the byu game is on the espn app it is not. Thanks guys

Nope. @espn it is not on your app. Thanks for the coverage fail. pic.twitter.com/bgbecuwaHI

Near the under-four minute timeout in the first half, the game appeared on ESPNU after Northern Iowa upset Sister Jean’s Ramblers. But ESPN’s support staff on Twitter was hard at work trying to apologize to all BYU fans who couldn’t see their Cougs in action.
Hi Paul, thanks for contacting ESPN. Apologies for the trouble. The Pepperdine vs BYU game is currently streaming on ESPNU in the ESPN app ~GR

Fans didn’t miss much as BYU struggled with WCC cellar-dweller Pepperdine through the first 20 minutes, only leading 36-33 at the break.
You can watch BYU/Pepperdine on ESPNU or listen to the game on KSL NewsRadio, the legacy home of the BYU Cougars.
