BYU Signee Collin Chandler Throws Down Highlight Dunk At Team USA Practice

SALT LAKE CITY – BYU basketball’s prized recruit in the class of 2022, Farmington High star Collin Chandler, turned some heads last week at the Nike Hoop Summit.
The Nike Hoop Summit is a showcase for the Team USA Junior National Team to go up against the best players from the world. Chandler was invited to the practices and participated in the scrimmage against the junior Team USA with the “Portland Generals.”
There were practices at the Portland Trail Blazers practice facility leading up to the scrimmage, and Chandler had a highlight dunk making the rounds on social media. Chandler shared the dunk on his accounts.

That dunk is a glimpse into Chandler’s high ceiling when he arrives at BYU two years after he plans to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Chandler missed a dunk earlier in practice, but he made sure to throw it down the next opportunity in front of him. It turned into a highlight moment.
Collin Chandler is a high-profile recruit for BYU basketball
Chandler, the nation’s No. 33 overall recruit according to the 247Sports Composite, is the second-highest rated recruit BYU has signed in the 21st century. The only recruit rated higher is Eric Mika, and he had a brief stint in the NBA.
BYU basketball coach Mark Pope saw Chandler compete at the NBPA Top 100 camp last July in Orlando and couldn’t help but be impressed.

“He walked in the first two sessions and he’s like, just playing good and kind of checking out the field. He’s going to be mad at me because he would never say this and he’s never said it to me, but my impression was after the second session, he looked around like, ‘I’m the best player here,’ and in the next few sessions, he just put on a show that was like, I mean, just incredible,” said Pope.
Chandler signed with BYU over offers from Utah, Arizona, Gonzaga, Stanford, Oregon, and others. The 6-foot-4 combo guard averaged 21.7 points per game during his final season at Farmington High, earning him Gatorade Player of the Year honors.
Chandler scored over 30 points in two games, including a career-high 37-point performance against Layton on February 8.
