No. 22 East Sneaks Past No. 16 Park City For Thrilling Victory

SALT LAKE CITY – The 22nd ranked East Leopards picked up a much-needed win by defeating the 16th ranked Park City Miners 21-14 on Friday night.

Amini Amone scored a touchdown in the first quarter and then both teams went scoreless until the third quarter when Maximilian Grizzell found William McCurdy for an 89-yard TD to tie the game. Jerrick Little put East in front with a rushing touchdown before Grizzell would find McCurdy again for a score to tie the game with under five minutes to play. Omar Shah ran in a touchdown to seal the win for the Leopards.

Region 6

Highland 7 @ #17 Brighton 49

It was all Brighton from the first quarter after scoring 28 points in the opening quarter and 21 in the second quarter. Jack Johnson threw five touchdowns, all to different receivers, including Owen Schmel, Jace Matheson, Myles Peters, Nash Matheson and Quincy Covington.

#18 Olympus 56 @ Murray 0

Chase Moseley threw three touchdown passes, one each to Luke Bryant, Charlie Sherwood and Will Rigby. Bryant and Sherwood ran in touchdowns, as did Sam Memmott and Nic Brown.

Region 7

#9 Stansbury 48 @ Uintah 8

Ezra Harris accounted for four touchdowns, three passing and one rushing. He found Mateaki Helu and Brock Wilson for TD’s. On the ground, Helu added two TD’s, while Coleman Dearden had one.

Tooele 47 @ Hillcrest 6

Seth Valencia ran in four touchdowns to give the Buffaloes the win. Lucas Rydalch added two rushing scores for Tooele.

Payson 26 @ Cedar Valley 29 OT

Cedar Valley jumped out to a 16-10 lead in the first half before the Aviators took a 28-18 advantage going into the fourth quarter. Payson scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion to force overtime but the Aviators made a field goal in the extra period to get the win. For Cedar Valley, Cooper Thomson threw three touchdowns, one each to KJ Fisher, Taygen Hansen and Brayden Jenkins. For Payson, Kade Edwards had three passing touchdowns, connecting with Cooper Swasey twice and Jarrett Johnson once.

#21 Timpanogos 42 @ Mountain View 11

The Timberwolves had a 21-11 lead at the half before scoring 21 unanswered in the third quarter to seal the victory. Luke Livingston threw three touchdowns, two to Easton Bretzing and one to Gabe Graf. Livingston also ran in a score.

Non-Region

Syracuse 45 (6A) @ Salem Hills 14

Jake Hopkins only needed to throw two touchdowns in the win over Salem Hills. He connected with DJ Mayes and Dylan Croxford. Kobe Bennett added two rushing touchdowns, while Noah Yeates and Daxton Faddis each ran in one score.

#14 Riverton 22 (6A) @ #10 Springville 15

The game was tied at 15 in the fourth quarter after Springville scored a touchdown. Easton Hicks ran back the kickoff for a 95-yard touchdown and Riverton was able to hold off the Red Devils. Jake Meyers threw his lone touchdown pass to Derek Ratliff. For Springville, Ryder Burton threw two touchdown passes, finding William Monney and Walker Deede.

Logan 21 (4A) @ Woods Cross 45

The run game was on point for the Wildcats with four players finding the end zone on the ground. Jacob Howes ran in two, while Logan Bailey, Charlie Coats and Cash Henderson each ran in one.

#19 Viewmont 28 @ Provo 35

The game was tied with 16 seconds left in the game when Drew Deucher ran in a pick-six to give the Bulldogs the win. Viewmont had a 28-18 lead at halftime but failed to score in the second half.

Alta 28 @ Maple Mountain 19

After holding a slim 14-12 lead at halftime, Alta scored two touchdowns in the third quarter and held Maple Mountain to just one, which was the difference in the game. For Alta, Branko Hansell-Fotu ran in two touchdowns, while Anson Jaramillo and Anthony Cottis each added one rushing score. Brogan Miles threw two touchdown passes for Maple Mountain, connecting with CJ Fairbourne and Kavika Bringhurst.

#1 Skyridge 54 @ #15 Orem 7

McCae Hillstead accounted for three touchdowns, two passing and one rushing. He found Cannon Jensen and La’akea Kalama for scores through the air. Carter Sheffield and Zaeden Selu each added a rushing touchdown.

Northridge 48 @ Cottonwood 17

Cottonwood held a 10-7 halftime lead before Northridge scored 28 points and held the Colts to seven in the third quarter. Malikai Williams threw a touchdown and ran in one. He found Malu Lumpkins for the passing TD. AJ Tillman led the Knights with four rushing touchdowns. Jaxon Freques added a rushing score.

Mountain Crest 0 (4A) @ #25 Bonneville 27

Jaxon Johnson’s lone touchdown pass went to Gavin Pelagio-Williams for the Lakers. Tifaga Havili and Isaac Mansaray each ran in a touchdown in the win.

Bountiful 16 @ Skyline 14

Owen Geilman threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter to give Bountiful a 13-0 lead. He connected with Faletau Satuala and Kaden Mertz. Bo Tate got Skyline on the scoreboard with a rushing touchdown. A Redhawks field goal put them ahead by nine. Justice Fons found Luke Wright for a touchdown with one minute remaining for Skyline.

Evanston 14 (WY) @ Jordan 15

Colton Austin threw two touchdowns for the Beetdiggers, finding Jakarin Owens and Zacary DuBois.
