PROVO, Utah – The ESPN College GameDay crew made predictions on the Top 25 clash between No. 21 BYU and No. 9 Baylor.

During the 9 a.m. hour of the pregame show on September 10, the crew that features host Rece Davis and analysts Kirk Herbstreit, newly hired Pat McAfee, and the coach Lee Corso, broke down the future Big 12 tilt.

The celebrity guest picker was Glen Powell from Top Gun: Maverick. Everyone except Lee Corso picked Baylor to take down BYU.

College GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit picks Baylor

“So to me, it’s the balance in a young, moxie quarterback in Blake Shapen. They go against a veteran team in BYU. All 11 back on defense,” said Kirk Herbstreit on College GameDay. “This kind of feels like a low-scoring game, tough environment. I’m going with the youth of Baylor to win this game.”

Lee Corso responded, “I was going to pick BYU, but now, forget it.”

Then he proceeded to pick the Cougars.

Lee Corso goes with BYU

“BYU won 10 games last year with a very young team, and now they’re older and better,” said Corso. “So, BYU with a major upset without their two receivers. BYU over Baylor in Provo.”

Herbstreit later corrected Corso and said that BYU is the favorite in this game, despite having the lower ranking.

Pat McAfee picks Baylor because of Dave Aranda

Pat McAfee, the former West Virginia Mountaineer and Indianapolis Colt, is going with Herbstreit and picking Baylor.

“Former Wall Street Journal journalist and New York Times journalist Pete Thamel broke the news that the top two wide receivers for BYU are out. That’s going to be problematic, especially when you’re going against a team that’s coached by Dave Aranda,” said McAfee. “Who goes from 2-7 in his first year coaching at Baylor, a lot of transfers probably after the Matt Rhule era to 12-2. That composure in the two-minute drill that you just said about Shapen there. That’s from good coaching, that’s from top to bottom. I like the Bears a lot.”

BYU vs. Baylor kicks off tonight at 8:15 p.m. on ESPN and KSL NewsRadio, with pregame beginning on the radio at 6 p.m.
