LOGAN, UT- OCTOBER 8: The sun sets over the game between the Utah State Aggies and the Air Force Falcons during the second half of their game October 8, 2022 Maverik Stadium in Logan, Utah.

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State football officially adds 42 players in head coach Blake Anderson’s third signing class with the program.

The Utah State football program announced the signings as part of the NCAA National Signing Day on Wednesday, February 1.

USU was able to add 20 athletes with connections to the state of Utah.

“We are 99.9 percent done with the class,” Anderson said. “A really good blend of both high school portal and JC players to fill out the 2023 class. Now we gotta go to work with them and get them ready. Looking forward to a lot of these guys already being here now and getting a chance to go through spring.”

The national letter-of-intent signing period for football began on Wednesday, Feb. 1, and runs through Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Offensive Additions

Of the 42 signees, 20 are offensive players. The Aggies offensive class includes seven are wide receivers, five are offensive linemen and four are running backs, to go along with three tight ends and one quarterback.

“Reggie Foster is a running back that we signed this morning,” Anderson said of the back out of American Heritage High School in Florida. “It was a unique situation for him. He had Power Five offers coming out of last spring’s evaluation cycle. He ended up in a very talented room with one of the best running backs in the country and his carries went down. We loved his athletic ability. We think he’s a great project at the running back position and think he just needs an opportunity. I think we’re getting a steal in him. I believe he’s got a tremendous future ahead of him.”

A transfer from Stanford, Anderson said that Bowman is expected to enroll at Utah State after his graduation from Stanford in March. Bowman will have two season of eligibility with the Aggies.

Blake Anderson on Hellman: “He’s a Salt Lake City/ Ogden kid. He’s a six five offensive tackle that is here. We were able to get him here after the signing process and during the break. He is a big, long developmental tackle. He’s on campus and doing well.”

Defensive Additions

Defensively, USU added 21 players. That list includes nine defensive backs, eight defensive linemen and four linebackers.

Previously committed to Arizona State, Davis committed to Utah State after changes to the Sun Devils coaching staff. “He’s a 6’2, 180 pound kid that we saw in camps,” Anderson said. Davis enters the USU program as a corner but has the versatility that could allow him to play safety.

Dye is the son of former Major League outfielder and World Series champion Jermaine Dye. A safety from Palomar Junior College, Dye is already on campus.

After losing a series of players along the defensive line from last season, Anderson and the Aggies were able to add some much needed size along the interior.

Falepouono Mosley and Vaughn Mamea join USU out of the College of San Mateo. “Both of those guys are on campus in spring practice and getting acclimated as we speak. They’ll bring size, physicality and power to the interior,” Anderson said.

Special Teams Additions

After beginning his career as a freshman All-American and New Mexico Military Academy, Testa’s performance was hampered by injuries last season. “He has a huge leg and is already here as well,” Anderson said.

2023 Season Opener

Utah State is scheduled to begin their 2023 on the road against Big 10 opponent Iowa. The Aggies other non-conference opponents will include Idaho State, James Madison and UConn.

In Mountain West play, USU will host Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State and Nevada. They will have road games at Air Force, New Mexico, San Diego State and San José State.
