NFL Scouting Combine: Jaren Hall Says Faith Helps Him Be ‘Best Football Player I Can Be’

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU quarterback Jaren Hall credited his faith in helping him be the best football player he could possibly be during an interview session with the media at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine.
The Combine takes place from February 27-March 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Hall, who is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, discussed the “three F’s” of faith, family, and football in his life during his time with the media at the Combine.
“Born and raised in the Church. My father was a convert to the Church, so he’s kind of seen both sides of everything in his life and it was important to him,” Hall said, “It became very important to my siblings and myself growing up. That’s always been a part of the deal for me. It’s been faith, family, and football. It’s kind of been the three F’s of my life and it’s how I was raised. I just think it gives me great balance. For myself personally, with as much as I have going on in my individual life, that’s always my focus. It keeps me centered. It keeps me grounded. I think it makes me a better football player, you know, the best football player I can be.”

The former BYU quarterback was also asked what makes him believe he is able to be a franchise quarterback in the NFL.
“I love football,” Hall responded. “It’s always been a part of my DNA. [I’ve] been in a lot of situations where I’ve had to lead a team…It’s something that I thrive on, that’s a new challenge, bringing people together as a unit, and that’s what football is. That’s what being a quarterback is about. [I] had a lot of great experiences doing things in that nature and that’s something I love. So I think passion and a desire to do it is ultimately what will give me the opportunity to do that.”

During the media session, Hall also praised former BYU standouts and current NFL players Fred Warner (San Francisco 49ers), Tyler Allgeier (Atlanta Falcons), and Zach Wilson (New York Jets).
Like Hall, Wilson was a star quarterback at BYU. The NFL prospect followed in Wilson’s footsteps as BYU’s starting quarterback after the latter was drafted No. 2 overall by the Jets in 2021.
“Zach was always the most prepared guy on the field,” Hall praised Wilson during his Combine comments. “He’s a guy that cherished the film room…that guy was invested. I was blown away with a couple of years [of] being around him. It helped me and my love for the game, [and] my love for preparation…that man worked harder than anybody else. That’s something that I took away, that I needed to do, be the hardest working, be the most prepared guy on the field. Cause at that position you’ve got to be.”

Hall and the rest of the quarterbacks at the Combine will participate in on-field drills on Saturday, March 4 beginning at 11 a.m. (MDT). Coverage will be televised on NFL Network.
