Forster Ajago All But Seals Real Salt Lake Win With Late Goal

SALT LAKE CITY – Forster Ajago put a nail in the coffin of the Seattle Sounders with a late goal to put Real Salt Lake up 2-0 in the home opener on Saturday.

The goal was Ajago’s first in MLS play.

Forster Ajago Scores Second Goal In Two Games

In his first season with Real Salt Lake, the Ghana native has been the king of firsts.

He scored the outright first goal of the season in the CONCACAF Champions Cup earlier this week. Against the Sounders, he scored the first offensive RSL MLS goal in 2025.

The reason that the word ‘offensive’ is there for a reason. An early blunder from the Sounders resulted in an own goal and a 1-0 lead for Real.

Real Salt Lake held strong to close out the math and secure the 2-0 home-opening win.

Real Salt Lake Opens 2025 MLS Home Schedule Against Sounders

After a very eventful offseason for the Claret and Cobalt, the 2025 MLS season is finally upon us.

Following a 4-0 season-opening loss to San Jose, RSL opens its home slate against the Seattle Sounders. Seattle is playing its first road match after playing Charlotte FC to a 2-2 draw at Lumen Field on Saturday, February 22.

Real and the Sounders played twice in 2024. The first matchup was a 2-0 RSL win in Sandy and the second was a 1-1 draw in Seattle.
