Former Utah Forward Jake Wahlin Commits To ACC Program

SALT LAKE CITY—Former Utah basketball forward Jake Wahlin is heading east to his new home.
Wahlin has reportedly committed to the Clemson Tigers in the ACC. The former Utah sophomore shared the commitment status on his personal Twitter account.

Jake Wahlin to Clemson in the ACC
Along with Clemson, Wahlin also considered the University of Virginia. He took trips to both schools and ultimately landed with Brad Brownwell and the Tigers.
Wahlin is a former three-star recruit in the 2021 cycle, who was initially signed to play at BYU. The 6-foot-10 forward served a church mission and flipped to Utah upon his return home.
The past two seasons, Wahlin has shown a lot of improvement and potential as a versatile forward who can do a bit of everything. Wahlin averaged 6.3 points and 4.9 rebounds, while 46.7% from the field and 35.1% from 3-point range.
Focus shift to Utah basketball’s recruiting efforts
Utah’s current roster is far from finished. With the staff essentially complete, Utah can turn greater attention to recruiting.
The Utes are currently hosting four-star prospect Kelvin Odih, transfer commit Terrence Brown, and two other transfer portal prospects, Elijah Moore and Tyler Betsey.

There are some pieces in place on the roster already, though very few. Jensen and his new staff have work to do to reach 15 scholarship players. The Utes need difference-makers, not just seat warmers on the bench.
The Utes have been linked to a handful of prospects, and with the staff in place, action should only increase from here.

Though recruiting has been quiet to date, this is not due to a lack of effort. Much work has been done out of the spotlight, in the shadows, behind the scenes.
Sources have indicated that Utah is expected to welcome a handful of visitors next week and is well-positioned with targets, too. Utah needs a lot, but above all else, Utah needs players who will help establish the culture in year one.
