BYU Football Lands Commitment From Sefanaia Alatini

PROVO, Utah – The latest commitment to the 2026 BYU football recruiting class is Sefanaia Alatini.
Alatini announced his commitment to BYU early on Tuesday, May 20.

Sefanaia Alatini commits to BYU
Alatini hails from Mountain View, California, where he preps at St. Francis High School—the 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete primarily plays safety, but some colleges on the recruiting trail, like Utah, projected him as a future linebacker.
It’s the second consecutive recruiting cycle that BYU has picked up a commitment from St. Francis High School in California. Last year, BYU signed running back Kingston Keanaaina. Keanaaina is preparing to serve a Latter-day Saint mission in Honduras.
The 247Sports Composite ranks Alatini as the 923rd overall prospect in the country in the class of 2026 and the 84th-ranked prospect in the state of California.
BYU football is knocking on the door of a Top 25 class
Alatini is the ninth commitment in BYU’s class of 2026. The addition of Alatini bumped BYU up from No. 33 to No. 29 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings for 2026.
BYU has been recruiting Alatini since before they played a game as a Big 12 program in 2023.
Alatini picked BYU over reported offers from Arizona, Utah, Washington, Cal, Boise State, Minnesota, and others.
Last season at St. Francis, Alatini had 72 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and two interceptions.
