SALT LAKE CITY – Cody Williams scored 23 points to lead the Utah Jazz to an 86-76 victory over the Washington Wizards.

The win moved the Jazz to 1-3 in the Vegas Summer League.

Cody Williams Third Quarter Carries Jazz

After a slow first half, scoring just eight points on 4-9 shooting, Williams exploded out of the gate in the third quarter to help the Jazz put distance between themselves and the Wizards.

As has been a trend through several Vegas appearances, the second-year Jazz wing dominated the second half, scoring 15 points on 5-7 shooting, including 3-4 from downtown.

Williams also added two rebounds, two assists, and two steals to fill out the stat sheet once again, bringing his averages through four games to 19.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.2 steals.

The former lottery pick isn’t a particularly loud performer, as in, his style of play doesn’t generate the same highlight reel plays as teammates Kyle Filipowski or Ace Bailey, but his production his impossible to ignore.

Strength remains an issue for the 6-foot-7, 190-pound, 20-year-old, but his skill set has shown growth throughout the summer league.

For now, Williams is better in bursts, frequently dominating individual quarters rather than full games, but any production is an improvement from his underwhelming rookie season.

The second-year forward may not be ready to contribute to the Jazz’s main roster early in the 2025-26 season, but he’s trending in the right direction.

Jazz Wrap Summer League On Friday

Sitting at 1-3 through four summer league games, the Jazz failed to qualify for the playoffs in Las Vegas and will conclude their exhibition run on Friday against the Chicago Bulls.
