BYU Football Checks In On 2025 Preseason Coaches Top 25 Poll

For the first time since 2022, BYU was placed on the College Football Preseason Coaches’ Top 25 poll.

The Cougars slotted in at No. 23, one spot ahead of Texas Tech and one spot behind Iowa State.

Despite questions surrounding the quarterback room, the coaches clearly trust in the roster and results from 2024.

Last season, BYU blew low expectations out of the water, finishing with an 11-2 record and an Alamo Bowl win.

The Cougars were ranked as high as No. 6 last season, but back-to-back losses to Kansas and Arizona State pushed them from CFP contenders to San Antonio.

Heading into year number 10 for head coach Kalani Sitake, there are expectations of similar success for BYU in 2025.

Other Notable Top 25 Placements

BYU is one of five Big 12 schools to land in the poll. Arizona State (11), Kansas State (20), Iowa State (22), and Texas Tech (24) also made the list.

The SEC had by far the most selections in the poll. Nine of the 16 schools in the conference made the top 25. Four of them made the top ten.

For the first time in program history, the Texas Longhorns hold the No. 1 spot in the preseason rankings.

The annual preseason coaches poll has been released.
