SALT LAKE CITY – It was back to regularly scheduled programming in week one for the Corner Canyon Chargers as they dominated the Bingham Miners in a 45-0 shutout on Friday.

They set the tone early as quarterback Helaman Casuga unloaded a 96-yard missile to Kai Meza to open scoring in the first quarter.

From there, Weston Briggs punched in two red zone touchdowns, and the Chargers scored a total of six TDs in just the first three quarters.

Week 1 Recap For 6A Utah High School Football

Non-Region

Tooele Buffaloes 7 @ Layton Lancers 50

After the first quarter ended with the score tied at 7-7, it looked like the Layton Lancers and Tooele Buffaloes were set up for a competitive week one matchup. Quickly, that script was flipped. Layton scored 16 in the second quarter and 20 in the third, all while stonewalling the Buffaloes. Five different Lancers players made their way into the end zone, with running back Solomon Lee scoring twice.

No. 13 Fremont Silverwolves 42 @ No. 16 Weber Warriors 10

The Fremont Silverwolves made a statement, not just in the first game, but in the first quarter against the Weber Warriors on Friday. The Silverwolves scored 21 points in the first, paving the way for their big win. Running back Cade Hadley ran in three touchdowns, all of which came in the first half.

No. 24 Crimson Cliffs Mustangs 14 @ No. 4 Lone Peak Knights 49

The Lone Peak Knights started and ended strong to take a week one win over the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs. The Knights scored 14 in the first quarter and held the Mustangs scoreless. Crimson Cliffs responded with 14 in the second quarter, but they were matched with 14 from Lone Peak. It was all the home team from there. Kennan Pula and Jaron Pula combined for three receiving touchdowns.

Pleasant Grove Vikings 3 @ No. 9 American Fork Cavemen 35

The American Fork Cavemen started and ended strong to pick up a convincing week one win over the Pleasant Grove Vikings. American Fork scored 14 points and held the Vikings scoreless in the first quarter, and they did it again in the fourth. Running back Prince Afu had two rushing scores for the Cavemen.

Woods Cross Wildcats 24 @ Syracuse Titans 37

The Syracuse Titans pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure their week one win over the Woods Cross Wildcats on Friday. The Titans led 20-17 at halftime and then 27-24 at the end of the third. In the fourth, a field goal and a blocked kick turned return touchdown by Ben Cook sealed the deal for Syracuse.

Northridge Knights 14 @ Copper Hills Grizzlies 21

The Copper Hills Grizzlies came out on top in a back-and-forth match against the Northridge Knights in week one. Copper Hills found the end zone in the first quarter. Northridge matched them in the second, and the score was tied 7-7 at the break. The Grizzlies then scored two more times in the second half to just one from the Knights. Logan Batt hauled in two of Copper Hills’ three touchdowns.
