PROVO, Utah – The Bear Bachmeier era has arrived for BYU football.
On Tuesday, BYU offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick announced that the true freshman transfer from Stanford would be BYU’s starting quarterback to begin the 2025 season.
Bachmeier will be the first true freshman to start at quarterback to open a season.
He beat out McCae Hillstead and Treyson Bourguet for the starting quarterback role.

Bear Bachmeier rocking No. 47 as a QB is objectively unhinged. But as a “let football players wear whatever number they want” maximalist, this is the price I’m willing to pay for free will. pic.twitter.com/UDUq9zgo6D
