Week 3: 6A Utah High School Football Recap

SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 9 Davis Darts held off a late push from the No. 8 Mountain Ridge Sentinels to pick up their second win in week three of 6a high school football on Friday.
The first quarter saw 14 points from Davis and none from the Sentinels. Quarterback Tradon Bessinger found Bode Sparrow for both of those scores.
Two more passing TDs in the second quarter saw Davis leading 28-6 at halftime. Mountain Ridge woke up after the break, scoring 28 points in the second half.
However, the first half lead proved too much to overcome as the Davis Darts came out on top, 49-34. Bessinger finished with an impressive seven passing touchdowns.

Region 2
No. 24 Westlake Thunder 17 @ Bingham Miners 10
The Westlake Thunder remained undefeated and kept the Bingham Miners winless with a late touchdown to take the lead. Trailing 10-9 in the final minutes, Bosten Fountaine found Ashton Blake from the one-yard line to put the Thunder on top. Before that score, Bingham had held Westlake to nothing but field goals.

No. 17 Crimson Cliffs Mustangs (4A) 42 @ Cedar Valley Aviators 14
The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs scored 21 points in the first quarter, which allowed them to cruise to a big win over the Cedar Valley Aviators in week three. Mustangs running back Van Dailey went on a tear in the first half, running in three touchdowns in about eight minutes of game time. Crimson Cliffs’ other three scores came off the hand of quarterback Tanoai Andersen.
East Leopards (4A) 0 @ No. 3 Skyridge Falcons 68
The Skyridge Falcons put on a clinic in week three, blowing out and shutting out the East Leopards. Quarterback Kaneal Sweetwyne threw four passing touchdowns, each to a different receiver. All in all, eight different Falcons players got into the end zone against East.

Taylorsville Warriors (5A) 0 @ No. 13 Herriman Mustangs 64
The Herriman Mustangs scored an eye-popping 36 points in the first quarter en route to a blowout win over the Taylorsville Warriors on Friday. Tyler Messer opened the scoring with two rushing touchdowns in just three minutes and thirty seconds. Six other Mustangs players scored a touchdown in week three.
No. 10 Lehi Pioneers 36 @ Kuna (ID) 0
The Lehi Pioneers went northwest to take on the Kuna Kavemen and left with a shutout victory on Friday. It was the Devaughn Eka show in Idaho. The senior running back had a hat trick of touchdowns with two on the ground. Vai Kaio and Carson Wren also got in the end zone for the Pioneers.
No. 25 Riverton Silverwolves 15 @ San Clemente (CA) 35
The Riverton Silverwolves traveled down to the West Coast to take on the San Clemente Tritons, but were outmatched as they took their first loss of the season. After the Tritons built a 28-0 lead in the first half, the Silverwolves were left fighting from behind. Xander Thayer and Tonga Tafisi each found the end zone in the second half but it was too little, too late for Riverton.
Farmington Phoenix 10 vs. Mountain View (ID) 7
The Farmington Phoenix snuck out a three-point overtime win over the Mountain View Mavericks in a Rocky Mountain Rumble clash in week three. The Phoenix trailed 7-0 at halftime, but some solid defense and a late score from Troy Stevens forced an extra period. Jaxon Beynon eventually nailed the game-winning field goal in OT.
