LOGAN, Utah – Utah State football faces one of its biggest tests of the season this weekend when it tangles with the Texas A&M Aggies and their ’12th Man’ homefield advantage.
USU takes on the No. 19 Texas A&M at Kyle Field in Bryan-College Station, Texas, on Saturday, September 6. Kickoff is at 10:45 a.m. MT.

TAMU opened 2025 with a 42-24 home win over the University of Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners in Week 1.
Texas A&M survives USU football upset bid in 2009
The first and only meeting between these programs came in 2009 when USU traveled to College Station, Texas, for week two.
QB Diondre Borel and future NFL running back Robert Turbin gave A&M fits, but they couldn’t overcome an anemic pass defense in a 38-30 loss. The loss capped a brutal two-week stretch to open the season that began with a 35-17 loss at No. 19 Utah.

Utah’s Aggies had a fighting chance after scoring the final 13 points to get within one score. Trailing by eight with 25 seconds to play, USU recovered an onside kick.
Two incompletions forced the visitors into an obvious passing situation on third down. Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller sacked Borel and forced a fumble that TAMU recovered.
Borel completed 24-of-47 passes, finishing with a career-high 334 yards and a touchdown. He carried the football 22 times for 34 yards and two scores. It was the second multi-touchdown rushing game of his Aggie career.
Turbin became the first USU runner to notch back-to-back 100-yard rushing performances since David Fiefia in 2003. Wide receiver Stanley Morrison led the team with six catches for 126 yards.
Utah State woeful against SEC opponents & Top 25 teams
No matter how you look at the numbers, Logan’s Aggies have been overmatched against Power Conference and Top 25 teams throughout their history.
Utah State enters the weekend 6-70 all-time against AP Top 25 teams and 3-55 on the road. The program’s most recent win against an AP Top 25 team was a 46-13 win over No. 19 San Diego State in the 2021 Mountain West Championship Game.

The past hasn’t been any prettier against current SEC programs. USU is 2-25 against SEC teams.
A 1972 Oklahoma forfeit is the most recent win the Aggies were credited with. The only game Utah State has won on the field was a 35-6 win at Kentucky in 1970.
USU’s last game against an SEC opponent was a 55-0 loss at Alabama in 2022.
