SALT LAKE CITYThe first week of the 2025 NFL season is officially all wrapped up! Players with local ties made their mark all over the league in week one.

Every local NFL player who recorded a stat, with the top performances highlighted, or helped their team pick up a win can be found in our weekly roundup.

Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season begins on September 11 as the Packers host the Commanders on Thursday Night Football.

NFL Locals’ Week One: Top Performances, All Stats, And More

Top Local NFL Performances

  • Former East High running back Jaylen Warren had 11 carries for 37 yards and two receptions for 22 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers’ week one win over the New York Jets.
  • Former Utah State linebacker Bobby Wagner led the Commanders’ defense with 10 tackles (five solo). He also got in the backfield for one tackle for loss.
  • Former Utah linebacker Jonah Elliss finished with three solo tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, and a quarterback hit in Denver’s win over Tennessee in week one.
  • Former BYU linebacker Fred Warner flew all over the field in a divisional win over the Seahawks. He finished with eight tackles (four solo) and a tackle for loss.
  • Former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love completed 16 of 22 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers’ win over the Lions on Sunday.
  • Former BYU wide receiver Puka Nacua hauled in 10 receptions for 130 yards in Los Angeles’ win over Houston.
  • Former Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid had four receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown in Buffalo’s come-from-behind Sunday Night Football win.

In The Statsheet

  • Former Orem High standout Alohi Gilman led the Chargers’ defense with nine tackles (four solo) in a win over Kansas City on Friday.
  • Former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson checked in late for the Dolphins in a blowout and connected on five of his eight pass attempts for 32 yards. He also scrambled once for three yards.
  • Former Utah linebacker Mohamoud Diabate had three tackles (two solo) in the Browns’ loss to Cincinnati.
  • Former BYU defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga also had three tackles (two solo) along with a quarterback hit in a week one loss.
  • Two local receivers on the Saints, Weber State’s Rashid Shaheed and Utah’s Devaughn Vele, caught passes from Spencer Rattler in week one. Shaheed had six receptions for 33 yards. Vele caught one pass for 13 yards.
  • Former Utah safety Julian Blackmon posted seven tackles (four solo) and a pass breakup in his Saints debut.
  • Former Bingham High defensive tackle Jay Tufele had three tackles (two solo) in the Jets’ loss to the Steelers.
  • Former Southern Utah safety Miles Killebrew had one solo tackle in Pittsburgh’s win at MetLife Stadium.
  • Former Utah kicker Matt Gay went 3/3 on extra point attempts in Washington’s win over New York.
  • Former BYU running back Tyler Allgeier took 10 carries for 24 yards in the Falcons’ three-point loss to Tampa Bay.
  • Judge Memorial High linebacker Kaden Elliss had five tackles (three solo) and a pass breakup for Atlanta.
  • Former Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd posted four tackles against the Carolina Panthers in Jacksonville’s week one win.
  • Former Utah linebacker Cody Barton posted nine tackles (five solo) in his debut with the Titans.
  • Former BYU running back Chris Brooks totalled three yards on one carry and one reception in Green Bay’s win over Detroit.
  • Bingham High standout Dalton Schultz pulled in three receptions for 28 yards in Houston’s loss to the Rams in week one.
  • Former BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy finished with three total tackles (one solo) and a QB hit in the Ravens’ heartbreaking loss on SNF.
  • Former Utah safety Cole Bishop was on the wrong end of a Derrick Henry highlight, but still finished with four solo tackles in the Bills’ 41-40 win.
  • Former Weber State cornerback Taron Johnson had two solo tackles on Sunday night.
  • Highland High tight end Jackson Hawes had one catch, but it was a big one. His 29-yard receptions put the Bills on the goalline in the fourth quarter to set up a touchdown.
  • Orem High linebacker Noah Sewell led the Bears with nine total tackles (seven solo) on Monday Night Football.

Secured The Win

  • Former Herriman High offensive lineman and the LA Chargers’ offensive line held strong in a 27-21 win over the Chiefs in São Paulo, Brazil.
  • Former BYU offensive lineman Blake Freeland helped the Indianapolis Colts pick up their first week one win in over a decade as they defeated the Miami Dolphins, 33-8.
  • Former Corner Canyon offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson and the Raiders started their season with a win over the New England Patriots in Foxborough.
  • Former Utah offensive lineman Garett Bolles and the Broncos allowed just one sack in their 20-12 win over the Titans.
