Jordan Love Leads Packers To Big Week One Divisional Win Over Lions

GREEN BAY, Wisc. – Former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers started the season strong with a win over their NFC North division rivals, the Detroit Lions.
In the 27-13 victory, Love completed 16 of 22 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

Jordan Love, Packers Start With Important Win Over Detroit
Green Bay came out of the gates with some heat, finding the end zone on their very first drive.
On the 12-play, 83-yard drive, Love completed six of eight pass attempts for 65 yards. Each of his completions went to a different receiver.

The Packers defense started just as strong, forcing a Detroit three-and-out.
On the ensuing possession, the offense stalled in the red zone and had to settle for a field goal. Brandon McManus booted it in from 34 yards to make it 10-0.
Detroit’s offense finally came around a bit in the second quarter, marching nearly 80 yards before the Packers shut the water off on them outside the 10-yard line. They responded with their own field goal.
With the ball back, it took just two plays for Green Bay to get back in the end zone. Love unloaded a 48-yard deep ball to Romeo Doubs, instantly putting the Packers back in the red zone.
On play two, Love found Jayden Reed on the right side to extend the lead to 17-3.

The rest of the half saw a Packers interception and a punt from the offense. They ended up taking the 14-point lead into halftime.
The third quarter was more of the same. Detroit opened the half with a field goal. But after that, four traded punts took the game into the fourth quarter.
Green Bay running back Josh Jacobs led a drive in the fourth, taking carries on five of the eight plays before eventually finding his way into the end zone.
The game ended with another Packers field goal, followed by a Lions consolation touchdown.
About Jordan Love
Before his time in the league, the Bakersfield, California native played at USU from 2016 to 2019. During his time with the Aggies, Love threw for 8,600 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions with a completion rate of 61 percent.
In 2020, the Packers traded up to select Love with the No. 26 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
During his rookie campaign, the former USU standout was inactive for each of Green Bay’s games.
Love saw limited action in his second and third seasons with the Packers and continued to serve as the backup to four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. Following the 2022 season, the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets. The Rodgers trade paved the way for Love to be Green Bay’s QB1 in 2023.

In his first three seasons, Love threw for 606 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions with a 60.2 percent completion rate in 10 games played.
In 2023, Love threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also ran for 247 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Packers to a 9-8 record in the regular season.
In two playoff games, the former USU signal-caller threw for 466 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions.
