BYU Football Lands Commitment From Lehi’s Devaughn Eka

LEHI, Utah – BYU football picked up a commitment from an in-state running back in Devaughn Eka.

Eka announced his commitment on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday night.

“It’s official! I have committed to @BYUfootball,” Eka wrote on X.

“I want to thank everyone that has made this journey possible. Family, friends, coaches, and fans. Thanks [Kalani Sitake], [Harvey Unga], and [BYU Football Recruiting].”

A three-star prospect in the class of 2026, Eka picked BYU over offers from San Diego State, Sacramento State, UNLV, and others.

So far in his senior season at Lehi, Eka has rushed for 480 yards and eight touchdowns in five games. Last week at Skyridge, Eka had a season-high 20 carries for 137 yards and two touchdowns.

Eka joins Lehi teammate Legend Glasker in BYU’s 2026 recruiting class. The Cougars have secured 20 commitments and rank 23rd in the country for their class.

Eka participated in the Under Armour Next camp at West High School in Salt Lake City in May and spoke to KSL Sports.

“They’re gonna get a hard worker. I’m just going to be there; I’ve proven myself at the high school level. So, I’m just going to try to prove myself at the college level,” Eka said to KSL Sports in May, on what the college of his choice will be getting in him. “I’m going to work hard, I’ve got good speed.”

Earlier this season, Eka was in attendance for BYU football’s season-opener against the Portland State Vikings. Eka shared a picture on X of him with BYU’s all-time leading rusher and NFL player, Jamaal Williams.

Devaughn Eka and Lehi High School are back in action this Friday night as they host 6-0 Herriman.
