PROVO, Utah – Barstool Sports owner, internet personality, and college football analyst Dave Portnoy is enjoying his time in Provo before Saturday’s Utah vs. BYU Holy War matchup.
Portnoy was added to the Big Noon Kickoff team on Fox before this season and has made an impact on the college football broadcast world.
He arrived in Provo on Thursday and immediately began his online reviews.
It’s worth noting that Portnoy was in Salt Lake City a few weeks ago for Utah’s matchup against Texas Tech. He conducted quite a few of his famous pizza reviews around the city.

The Massachusetts native was instantly impressed by the shining BYU ‘Y’ on the mountainside.

Portnoy is probably the world’s most famous pizza reviewer, with reviews of local pizza shops across the United States posted to his social media. His first stop in Utah County was Nico’s Pizza, a local pizza shop.
Mitch Harper and Steve Bartle, KSL Sports’ BYU and Utah insiders, had some other recommendations for Portoy’s pizza stops on their Rivalry Week crossover episode.

While Portnoy was in Salt Lake City, he reviewed the Pie Pizzeria, Villagio Pizzeria, Pie Hole, Slackwater and a few others.

Portnoy checked into his hotel with a full stomach and awoke to a mountain view that Utah natives know and love.
The hotel room is average at best BUT the view looks fake. Like that’s not a painting. That’s actually just the view out the window . #provo #davejustdidart pic.twitter.com/qpkAqabMS5

Dave Portnoy’s Bookstore Reviews
In addition to reviewing pizza joints, Portnoy also reviews the campus bookstores on his road trips. While in Salt Lake City, he gave the Utah campus bookstore a glowing review, saying it’s the best one so far.
Utah gets the award for best bookstore I’ve been in so far. Tons of cool stuff. The thing you gotta know about me is I’m gonna drop 500 to 1000 in every book store I go in and probably never wear any of it once I leave campus but I get caught in the hype everytime. #utes

On the Friday morning ahead of the Holy War, he added more fuel to the rivalry fire by dropping his review of the BYU campus bookstore – and it scored better than Utah’s.

Dave Portnoy says the Holy War could be the most heated rivalry in college football
Nearly a month ago, when Portnoy was in Salt Lake for the Utes’ matchup against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, he spoke highly of the rivalry between the Cougars and Utes.
After being here for a few days I think there’s a chance the BYU Utah rivalry is the most heated rivalry we've got in the country pic.twitter.com/2BcGPeQR8J

Will the 2025 edition of the Holy War between No. 15 BYU and No. 23 Utah live up to his expectations? Only time will tell.
