No. 12 BYU Blows Out TCU For Ninth Win

PROVO, Utah – The BYU Cougars maintained control of their destiny by blowing out the TCU Horned Frogs 44-13 behind an excellent, all-around performance.

The No. 12 BYU Cougars hosted the Horned Frogs at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday, November 15.

BYU football players who are “OUT” for Saturday’s game against TCU

BYU gets defensive tackle Anisi Purcell back after the big man missed last week’s loss with an injury. That’s the extent of the good news, though. Wide receiver Cody Hagen and safety Matthias Leach will miss Saturday night’s game.

Sione Moa, Marcus McKenzie, and Tommy Prassas remain out for BYU.

After forcing a punt, the BYU offense took over for its second possession.

Backup QB McCae Hillstead came into the game with the Cougars, trying to change things up, and completed two passes on a ten-play touchdown drive. Parker Kingston capped the drive with an 11-yard rushing score to give BYU a 10-0 lead late in the period.

The Cougar defense limited TCU to 37 yards of offense on ten total plays in the opening quarter.

Second Quarter

BYU struck again on the ground early in the period, extending its lead to 17 when Bear Bachmeier tucked and ran through a gigantic hole for a 17-yard touchdown run.

It increased the true freshman’s program rushing touchdown record and tied the program QB rushing touchdown record for a season at ten.

TCU pieced together its first touchdown drive of the night to stay within striking distance late in the quarter.

The Horned Frogs cut the deficit to 14 when Jon Denman broke a handful of tackles on a 13-yard scoring run.

Will Ferrin added a 35-yard FG before the break for a 27-10 halftime lead.

BYU had 344 total yards in the first half. (239 pass, 105 rush)
