SALT LAKE CITY — The 2025 Utah high school football season reached its penultimate moment Thursday at Rice-Eccles Stadium, where six teams took the field and three would emerge as state champions.

In 4A, the Ridgeline Riverhawks took on the Green Canyon Wolves. In 5A, the Springville Red Devils faced the Orem Tigers. In 6A, the Corner Canyon Chargers met the Lone Peak Knights.

2025 UHSAA Football Championship Recaps

4A: No. 1 Ridgeline Riverhawks 56 vs. No. 14 Green Canyon Wolves 0

The Ridgeline Riverhawks completed a perfect season while ending the cinderella run of the Green Canyon Wolves at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Thursday.

The first quarter ended with a respectable 6-0 score in favor of the Riverhawks. But the game really broke open in the second quarter. Back-to-back rushing scores from Nate Dahle and Graham Livingston quickly gave Ridgeline a three-possession advantage.

To start the third, Dahle punched in his third rushing score and then followed that with his first two passing TDs, a 15-yarder to Noah Fiefia and a 55-yard bomb to Livingston. Brady Cook and Crosby West added to the tally in the fourth quarter.

The Ridgeline Riverhawks finally got back over the hump this season after three straight semifinal appearances. The program last won the state championship in 2021, which was the first in school history.

5A: No. 2 Springville Red Devils 7 vs. No. 4 Orem Tigers 42

The Orem Tigers bested the Springville Red Devils for the second time this season on the Rice-Eccles Stadium turf on Thursday. However, this time around, it was an emphatic victory.

Senior two-way star and Utah Utes commit Aisa Galea’i had potentially the game of his career on the biggest stage. He had three touchdowns in three different phases of the game. Score one came on offense with a 60-yard run about two minutes into the first quarter. In the second, he picked off the Springville QB and returned it 78 yards to the house. On the first play of the second half, he returned the kickoff 96 yards for six.

From kickoff to the final whistle, it was almost all Orem. Springville’s lone score came in the third quarter on a trick play that ended in a Stafford Small 43-yard TD catch.

The win gives the Tigers their eighth state championship overall, and the third in 5A. The program’s last win came in 2020 when they beat Timpview in the championship game in back-to-back seasons.

6A: No. 1 Corner Canyon Chargers 35 vs. No. 6 Lone Peak Knights 20

For the third season in a row, the Corner Canyon Chargers reign supreme in the 6A classification. On Thursday afternoon, they got revenge against the Lone Peak Knights, the team that had handed them their sole loss in 2025.

The first three quarters were extremely competitive. A dominant run game from both sides resulted in back-and-forth action. The first four touchdowns all came on the ground and each from a different player. With about a minute left in the third quarter, Lone Peak led 20-14.

But then, the Corner Canyon avalanche started. Senior back Weston Briggs punched in three straight touchdowns over 10 minutes of game time. During this same stretch, the Knights’ offense stalled.

In the span of one quarter, the script flipped from a doubled-down upset to the dynasty reignited. The win makes it five state championships for the Chargers.
