Corner Canyon Names New Head Football Coach

DRAPER, Utah – The vaunted Corner Canyon Chargers football program will have a new leader in 2026, with Casey Sutera accepting the position.

Sutera steps into one of the country’s top programs after former head coach Eric Kjar left to take the top job at Weber State University.

Sutera has spent the past four seasons as the head coach of the Brighton Berngals.

He brings four years of head coaching experience and ten years as a defensive coordinator at Jordan (2012-2016) and CC (2017-2021).

Former Brighton HC Casey Sutera takes over Corner Canyon Football

Formerly the Corner Canyon defensive coordinator under Kjar from 2017 to 2021, Sutera inherits a stellar program.

The Chargers have won three consecutive 6A state titles and played in the championship game each of the past seven seasons. Corner Canyon has five 6A football state championships since opening in 2013.

Sutera leaves Brighton with a 35-14 career record, including a Region 5 championship in 2024.

The Bengals reached the 5A semifinals the past two years.

Sutera was a defensive end for two seasons at Southern Utah University before walking on with Kyle Whittingham’s Utah Utes in 2005.
