Report: Shane Fenske taking over as general manager of Salt Lake City Stars

SALT LAKE CITY — According to reports, the Utah Jazz are making some front office moves, specifically on the G League level.
First reported by Hoops Hype’s Michael Scotto and confirmed by KSL Sports’ Ben Anderson, Shane Fenske is taking over as the general manager of the Salt Lake City Stars.

He’s been with the @utahjazz FO for several years.
Former GM Katie Benzan is NOT leaving the organization, but she is changing positions with the team.

Katie Benzan was most recently the Stars’ GM. She is leaving that position, but will remain in a different role with the organization.
More information on Benzan’s new position and any other organizational shake-ups has not been reported at this time.
Who Is Shane Fenske?
Fenske has worked in the NBA for nearly a decade and spent the last three years in the Utah Jazz front office.
He started in June 2016 as a Basketball Data Analyst Intern with the Portland Trail Blazers. Fenske then moved across the country in June 2017 as he joined the Boston Celtics as a Basketball Operations Technology Developer. In July 2020, he moved into a new role with the Celtics as a Basketball Operations and Salary Cap Analyst.
Having worked alongside the Ainge family in Boston, he was brought over to Utah in May 2023. His first role with the Jazz was Vice President of Basketball Analytics and Insights.
One year later, he stepped up as an Assistant General Manager in April 2024. Fenske will continue as an Assistant GM with the Jazz in addition to his new duties with the Stars.
