SALT LAKE CITY – After a fairly quiet day on the free agent market, the Utah Mammoth made another big splash via trade as they acquired veteran center Vincent Trocheck from the New York Rangers in exchange for Sean Durzi, Cole Beaudoin and a third-round pick.

Shortly after re-signing Kevin Stenlund as their first deal of the day, the Utah Mammoth made a splash on the trade market by acquiring Trocheck from the New York Rangers.
“Vincent plays a reliable two-way game and is an Olympic gold medalist,” said Bill Armstrong, general manager of the Utah Mammoth. “He’s dynamic on the penalty-kill and elite in the face-off circle. Vincent’s leadership will be critical in helping our team to take the next steps towards building a contender.”
Interesting note on the Trocheck trade.
Last year, Utah was on his no trade list.

In need of another high-quality center to raise their ceiling and ability to compete in the postseason, Utah finally acquired a player they’ve long since coveted.
“Utah has been after him for quite some time,” National Insider Elliotte Friedman said on the NHL Network. “They tried last year during the regular reason.”
“Number one, Utah was persistent. Number two, I just think that he was a player that was ready for a change.”

In addition to recently winning a gold medal with Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Trocheck has been a staple of the New York Rangers for the last three seasons.

More recently, the 32-year-old center registered 16 goals and 37 assists in 67 games last season.
“It gives us a little bit better presence & ability to be around the front of the net,” Armstrong said in regard to the addition of Vincent Trocheck and Anders Lee. “That’s something we’ve strived for & it’s not an easy thing to find.”
“It’s truly a hard thing to get to the net and we went out & targeted two guys that, that’s what they do & were hoping that’s going to help us take the next step.”
While it does hurt to lose such a solid prospect in Beaudoin, Utah possesses an embarrassment of riches in their prospect pool which meant at some point they’d have to move on from one of their first-round picks.
Notably, Trocheck will join the Mammoth with three years remaining on his contract with an AAV of $5.625M.
Following the NHL draft, the Utah Mammoth will host their prospect development camp from June 28 to July 2.
On ice sessions will be at the Mammoth Ice Center on Monday & Tuesday at 10 a.m. Monday’s practice will be open to the public.
Prospects will then participate in a 4v4 scrimmage on Thursday at noon.
