Maple Mountain’s Uhila Wolfgramm commits to BYU football

SPANISH FORK – BYU football scored an important in-state victory on the recruiting trail for the class of 2027.

Maple Mountain standout EDGE rusher Uhila Wolfgramm has committed to BYU football. He announced his decision on his Instagram page.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound prospect picked BYU over finalist Oklahoma. On the heels of losing Davis High’s Bode Sparrow to the Sooners, BYU responded with a recruiting win by keeping Wolfgramm in Utah County.

Uhila Wolfgramm picks BYU over Oklahoma

It’s the second consecutive recruiting cycle where BYU has notched one recruiting win over Oklahoma. Last year in July, BYU beat out Oklahoma for LB/EDGE Braxton Lindsey.

The battle for Wolfgramm was a tightly contested one, coming down to the final stretch. Even Oklahoma legend Gerald McCoy was pitching Wolfgramm on X to commit to the Sooners.

After Wolfgramm announced his commitment to BYU, first-year defensive coordinator Kelly Poppinga posted an image of the 2009 BYU-Oklahoma game with a caption of “#GoCougs.”

Wolfgramm is rated as the second overall prospect in the state of Utah for the class of 2027 by the 247Sports rankings.

Over the past two seasons for Maple Mountain High, Wolfgramm has totaled 18 sacks.

In the 247Sports Composite rankings, Wolfgramm is the 204th overall prospect in the nation for the class of 2027. For 247Sports’ own rankings, Wolfgramm is No. 105 nationally.

Wolfgramm’s recruitment took off nationally this past winter after an impressive camp circuit. BYU made Wolfgramm a top priority on the recruiting trail and the Cougars were the last program to host him on an official visit in June.

Even during Wolfgramm’s scheduled official visits, he made another pit stop in Provo to compete in the BYU Elite Camp, going through drills and listening to the coaching from Kalani Sitake and Sione Po’uha.

BYU is now up to 11 commitments for the class of 2027.
