SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz made their second signing in free agency on Friday, adding wing Josh Okogie to the roster.
ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania broke the news, adding that it is a two-year deal for $12 million.

Okogie stands 6-foot-4 and has played at the shooting guard position for most of his career. Though, he can also slide down to the three in smaller lineups.
Last season with the Houston Rockets, Okogie shot a career-high 38.5 percent from three. He provides a solid 3&D presence, backed by many advanced defensive metrics. He ranks in the 95th percentile in DDPM, a stat that “estimates how much a player suppresses expected opponent scoring per 100 possessions.”
Defense has been a talking point in the Jazz’s front office as an area that needed improvement, both coming from inside the building and out. Okogie should address that problem while also adding another positive shooting presence on the other end.
Okogie joins the likes of Darryn Peterson, Brice Sensabaugh, Cody Williams, and others in Utah’s wing rotation.

About Josh Okogie
The 20th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft started his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
He played the first four seasons of his NBA career there, averaging 6.4 points, two rebounds, 1.1 assists, and one steal per game. Okogie moved on to his next team, the Phoenix Suns, for the 2022-2023 season.
Since then, he has played for both the Charlotte Hornets and the Houston Rockets.
There have been two major developmental arcs for Okogie so far in his eight-year career. He has always been a solid defender, but advanced stats started to really back his identity as a stopper once he landed in Phoenix.
And then last year, his jumpshot reached new heights. Through the first seven seasons of his career, he hovered right around the 30 percent mark from downtown. Last year in Houston, he shot over 38 percent from behind the arc on over two attempts a night.
