SALT LAKE CITY – During the final matchup of the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase between the United States and Team Canada, Utah Mammoth prospect Caleb Desnoyers suffered a worrisome leg injury late in the third period.

Caleb Desnoyers suffers leg injury against United States at Summer Showcase

With just seven minutes remaining in a one-sided affair against the United States, Utah Mammoth prospect Caleb Desnoyers suffered a leg injury while on the power kill.

Positioned near the slot as his teammates battled to clear the zone, Desnoyers was blindsided by an American skater who appeared to lose an edge while skating at a relatively high speed.

This caught Desnoyers by surprise which forced him to land awkwardly as his left leg buckled beneath the US player while falling to the ice.

The young forward was then visibly in pain before eventually making his way to the locker room.

Whether or not the injury was serious, given the 7-2 score in favor of the United States with very little time remaining, Desnoyers did not return to the contest.

During the postgame, Canadian coach Misha Donskov was unable to provide an update on Desnoyers’ situation.

“You never want to see something like that,” Donskov said. “I haven’t gotten a medical update on him yet but hopefully he’s OK.”
