SALT LAKE CITY – Ahead of the Utah Mammoth’s first official day of rookie camp, General Manager Bill Armstrong shared some notable injury updates involving former first-round picks Tij Iginla and Caleb Desnoyers.

Per Bill Armstrong, Caleb Desnoyers & Tij Iginla are both considered day to day and will not participate at rookie camp.

They’ll be available during main camp.

Tij Iginla, Caleb Desnoyers considered day-to-day

After sustaining an injury during the summer showcase against Team USA in early August, 2025 fourth overall selection Caleb Desnoyers is currently considered day-to-day and will not participate in the rookie showcase.

As for Tij Iginla, the former 2024 sixth overall pick is also considered day-to-day and will not participate in the showcase.

“Both those guys will not be in the rookie tournament,” Armstrong said. “They’ve got some nagging day-to-day injuries that will push them out.”

On a more positive note, Armstrong did go on to say that both players will be available during Utah’s main training camp.

Utah Mammoth rookie showcase

Following the single on-ice session at the Utah Mammoth Ice Center on Friday, the Mammoth will now travel to San Jose to participate in the rookie showcase tournament from September 12-15.

This will provide each of the rookies an opportunity to demonstrate their individual growth against other high-level NHL prospects.

For skaters such as Simashev and But, the showcase will help them set the tone as they prepare to battle for a roster spot during training camp.

Utah’s 2026 Rookie Showcase Game Schedule:  

Saturday, Sept. 12 vs. Vegas Golden Knights @ 4 p.m. MT

Sunday, Sept. 13 vs. San Jose Sharks @ 6 p.m. MT

Tuesday, Sept. 15 vs. Los Angeles Kings @ 2 p.m. MT

Streaming options are TBD.
